Immigrant Workers Building Pope’s Chair

August 26, 2015

By Beth Griffin

RYE, N.Y. (CNS) – North of New York, in two workshops 26 miles apart, small teams of unlikely craftsmen are creating the altar, ambo and presider’s chair Pope Francis will use when he celebrates Mass at Madison Square Garden on Sept. 25.

“Obviously Madison Square Garden isn’t a church,” he said at Port Chester. Instead of buying furnishings or having them professionally made, Cardinal Dolan said he and others planning the Mass wanted to have them made by “people who are particularly close to the heart of Pope Francis.”

SAN ANTONIO - Catholic Charities operates various centers in Texas to help the influx of women and children from Central America entering the country illegally.

Sacred Heart Parish Hall in McAllen has been turned into a relief center for families that have crossed the border.

Members of the community have donated their time and resources, such as clothing and toys, to the cause.

"Everyone is a volunteer here. The solidarity you have seen in this humanitarian outreach has been so uplifting," said Brenda Riojaso of Catholic Charities.

Religious 'charities' profit from open borders

Published: 07/16/2014 at 8:24 PM

Catholic Charities is running a fundraising campaign to help finance the resettlement of the illegal aliens, WND reported. But the religious charities get the bulk of their funding not from private donors or church members putting checks into a basket. They get it from the federal government.

Alexandria, Va.-based Catholic Charities USA reported receiving $1.7 million in government grants in 2012, according to its IRS Form 990.

But one of the largest recipients of government funds to resettle immigrant children is the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The USCCB helps resettle not only unaccompanied alien children, or UACs, who enter the country illegally but also refugees fleeing persecution overseas who enter through legal channels.

Romanizing America through Illegal Immigration

By Pastor Ralph Ovadal, April 10, 2006

I have been talking about this situation for years on my "Heart of the Matter" program because of the social, political, and most importantly, spiritual affects that the alien invasion is having on America. It is unfortunate that very few people have been concerned with the religious aspect of this issue. Over the past few years, I have spent time pointing out that the Roman Catholic Church is aiding and abetting the criminal invasion of America from Mexico because the illegals are almost all Roman Catholics. That church/state which maintains political, diplomatic relationships with the UN, the EU, the Russian Federation, the Organization for the Liberation of Palestine, and 174 nations around the globe is working both legally and criminally on behalf of a movement, the goal of which is to bring as many Mexicans into America as possible so as to eventually take over a large chunk of our nation for Mexico. This multifaceted movement, made up of radical organizations such as La Raza (The Race), Aztlan, and MEChA, is called Reconquista (Reconquest).

As Tensions with West Rise, Russia Increasingly Rattles Nuclear Saber

By Paul Sonne

April 5, 2015 12:00 p.m. ET

Amid the wave of bellicose rhetoric that has swelled in Moscow since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, officials as high up as President Vladimir Putin have been making open nuclear threats, a public saber-rattling with weapons of mass destruction largely unseen even in the days of the Cold War.

Remarks about Russia’s nuclear strength play well to Mr. Putin’s domestic constituency, hungry for a restoration of lost military might.

They also come at a time when Russia has grown more reliant on nuclear weapons, as the imbalance with Western conventional forces has widened. During the Cold War, Warsaw Pact conventional forces outnumbered NATO’s in Europe, leading the West to depend heavily on its nuclear arsenal as a deterrent.

Russia launches global war games amid rising military tension

By Oli Smith

PUBLISHED: 12:47, Mon, Aug 3, 2015 |

The Army Games started on Saturday for a two-week contest between 17 countries in an Olympic-style competition.
More than 2,000 foreign troops are expected to take part in the Games, including those from China, India, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Egypt, Pakistan, Serbia and Venezuela.

However, the Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov hoped that Western countries will one day take part in the Games to test "who is better, who is more powerful, more trained and qualified."

Kremlin Rising: Putin's Russia and the Counter-Revolution

By Erin Trouth Hofmann

Throughout his first term, Putin demonstrated that he was hostile to independent media, political opposition, rule of law, and other aspects of Western-style, liberal democracy, according to Baker and Glasser. However, Baker contended that many people chose to interpret Putin's intentions as basically in favor of democracy and reform, and to make excuses for his anti-democratic actions or view them as out of character.

Baker and Glasser are convinced that Putin is taking Russia down the path of authoritarianism, and they explained that this is becoming increasingly clear to many people. According to Glasser, the Putin administration has backed away from earlier rhetoric supporting Western-style democracy: "Even the President's closest advisors and friends now talk about a Russia that is not ready for democracy, is not used to democracy, where the authoritarian tradition would be a more comfortable fit."

5 reasons why China's woes are shaking the global markets

Tim Mullaney, Special to CNBC.com

Tuesday, 25 Aug 2015 | 1:32 PM ET

Most non-Chinese don't trade stocks in China, but the continuing crash in the Shanghai market still threatens to change their lives. The challenge is that China is the world's largest exporter ($2.2 trillion worth in 2013) and second-largest importer ($2 trillion), so its struggles are potentially the world's problems.

Compounding the importance of China's sheer size is the fact that its nominally Communist government is much more opaque than in fully-developed nations, and that its policy response to the fast-moving bear market has been clumsy.
