Why the Consecration of the Whole World Along With Russia In 1984?
Jul 1, 2015
By William Socke
COMMENT: The Catholic Church believes that Mary appeared to three children in 1917 and gave them three messages. These are called the three visions of Fatima. The last of these “visions” foretold that Russia would be converted back to Catholicism |
Why did Pope St. John Paul II, on March 25, 1984, consecrate the whole world to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and not just Russia alone, even though Our Lady of Fatima requested only the consecration of Russia? To answer this question we must first ask the question: “Why did Our Lady of Fatima request the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart by the Pope in union with all the bishops of the Catholic Church?”
Our Lady warned at Fatima that the world was threatened with punishment for its sins, by means of war, famine, and persecutions of the Church and of the Holy Father. She warned that a Second World War would start during the pontificate of Pope Pius XI. She said,
To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the First Saturdays. If my requests are heeded, Russia will be converted, and there will be peace; if not, she will spread her errors throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, various nations will be annihilated.
The reason Our Lady requested the consecration of Russia by the Pope and bishops of the Catholic Church was to prevent World War II and to prevent communist Russia from spreading their atheist ideology throughout the world, causing wars and persecutions of the Church, the martyrdom of the good, the suffering of the Holy Father and the annihilation of various nations.
To whom did Our Lady make this request? On June 13, 1929, Our Lady appeared to Sister Lucia in the chapel of her convent and said, “The moment has come in which God asks the Holy Father, in union with all the Bishops of the world, to make the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart, promising to save it by this means.” The request was not made to St. John Paul II, or to any random pope at some time in the future! No, the request was made to Pope Pius XI!

Fatima and the Conversion of Russia: Pope Francis Meets President Putin
By Deacon Keith Fournier

Catholic Online (www.catholic.org )
COMMENT: The voluntary and somewhat easy communication of Putin and the Vatican is immediately being interpreted many as the “conversion,” or at the very least, the beginning of the “re-conversion” of Russia to the catholic faith. |
The return of Christianity to Russia should give us hope for our own Nation as we face the effects of moral relativism, secularism and the growing hostility toward Christianity. I want to suggest something which will raise many eyebrows. Is what is happening in Russia a partial fulfillment of the promised conversion of that Nation? President Putin exchanging icons of Mary with Pope Francis was not simply a mere nicety. Accounts which have surfaced indicate that it was done with reverence and genuine signs of Christian piety. Could this be a part of the promise of Fatima being fulfilled?
VATICAN CITY (Catholic Online) - On Monday afternoon, November 25, 2013, Pope Francis met President Putin in the Vatican. Here is the official Communique of the Holy See Press Office: Audience of the Holy Father Granted to the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr. Vladimir Putin
In the afternoon of Monday 25 November 2013, the President of the Russian Federation, His Excellency Mr. Vladimir Putin, was received in audience by the Holy Father Francis. Mr. Putin subsequently went on to meet with the Secretary of State, Archbishop Pietro Parolin, who was accompanied by the Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Dominique Mamberti.
During the cordial discussions, satisfaction was expressed for the good existing bilateral relations, and the Parties focused on various questions of common interest, especially in relation to the life of the Catholic community in Russia, revealing the fundamental contribution of Christianity in society. In this context, mention was made of the critical situation faced by Christians in some regions of the world, as well as the defense of and promotion of values regarding the dignity of the person, and the protection of human life and the family.

What Would the Conversion of Russia Look Like?
August 29, 2014
Austin Ruse
COMMENT: Attitudes appear to be changing in Russia in favor of a religious agenda. Whether these new attitudes are genuine or not is yet to be seen, but the Vatican seems happy with what it is seeing. |
For much of the twentieth century, Catholics around the world prayed after every Low Mass for the conversion of Russia.
Called the Leonine Prayers, originally they were conceived as a protection of the sovereignty of the Papal States, which were then under attack. This intention ended with the Lateran Treaty of 1929 but the prayers continued from that time for the conversion of Russia that had become an atheistic state bent on destroying religion.
The prayers included 3 Ave Marias, a Salve Regina, a versicle and response, a prayer for the conversion of sinners and the “exaltation of Holy Mother Church,” ending with the prayer to St. Michael the Archangel. Pius X added the invocation “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Have Mercy on Us.”
The Cold War—World War III—ended bloodlessly. A murderous regime that had killed millions upon millions and enslaved many more and had tried to enchain the human spirit was toppled almost miraculously. There should have been a victorious parade up Fifth Avenue in New York.
But the work of the Spirit was not yet finished. Toppling the regime was only part of it. The other part was conversion. And what did we think that would look like?
Last summer I visited Russia for the first time. In recent years, I have come to work closely with the Russian government at the UN. They have come alive on issues related to life and family.
Vladimir Yakunin, head of the Russian railroad and a long-time close associate of Vladimir Putin, a man sometime suggested as Putin’s successor, had sponsored a visit to Russia of the True Cross of St. Andrew.
The True Cross of St. Andrew was burned in the French Revolution. Before being consumed in toto, a Catholic priest snatched it from the flames. During the pontificate of Pope St. John Paul the Great, it was returned to the Greek Orthodox Church.

Vladimir Putin Speaks Like a Christian
By Brother André Marie
September 25, 2013
COMMENT: Recent statements and laws passed in Russia really do appear to substantiate the argument regarding Russia’s “change.” |
Read the comments below by Vladimir Putin, who is constantly berated by Western glitterati (e.g., Madonna, Lady Gaga, Sir Elton John) for his stance on unnatural relations. The man speaks like a Christian, nay, like a Catholic (he is a self-professed Russian Orthodox Christian). Imagine an American politician in high office speaking in such a way.
On the other hand, some there are who think that the consecration of Russia requested by Our Lady of Fatima is not necessary, since Christianity (albeit in a schismatic version) is so openly accepted in this formerly atheistic and communist nation. My reply is twofold: 1) the Mother of God demanded it, therefore it ought to be done; and 2) the promised “conversion” of Russia was neither to schism, nor to non-communism, nor to any other thing than Catholic Unity under the Roman Pontiff.
One consolation in all this is that when Russia does convert to Catholicism, there will be an influx into the Church of men — real men! — who are not afraid to speak out openly as Christians, and fight like Christian warriors, as well as pray and fast like Russian Monks, worshiping according to a traditional Catholic liturgy which they have not seen fit to mutilate. That’s called a “net gain.”
